Manifesto on Climate Justice and Collective Responsibility
We, the signatories, recognizing the urgent need for climate justice and the collective responsibility of governments, businesses, and civil society, hereby declare the following principles to guide our actions and policies:
1. Acknowledging the disproportionate impact of climate change on marginalized communities and vulnerable populations, we demand that governments prioritize the protection of these communities through inclusive climate policies and adaptation measures.
2. Recognizing the historical contribution of industrialized nations to greenhouse gas emissions and environmental degradation, we call for equitable distribution of the burdens and benefits of climate action, ensuring that those most responsible bear the greatest responsibility for mitigation and adaptation efforts.
3. Emphasizing the importance of intergenerational equity, we commit to safeguarding the rights and interests of future generations by implementing policies that preserve ecosystems, reduce carbon emissions, and promote sustainable development practices.
4. Understanding the interconnectedness of social and environmental justice, we advocate for policies that address both the root causes and impacts of climate change, including poverty, inequality, and environmental racism.
5. Affirming the rights of indigenous peoples and local communities to their traditional lands and resources, we support their leadership in conservation efforts and sustainable land management practices that contribute to climate resilience and biodiversity conservation.
6. Recognizing the need for a fossil fuel phaseout and a just transition towards renewable energy sources, we urge governments and businesses to invest in clean energy technologies, create green jobs, and support workers and communities affected by the shift to a low-carbon economy.
7. Acknowledging the role of civil society in driving climate action and holding governments and corporations accountable, we encourage grassroots movements, advocacy campaigns, and community-based initiatives that promote climate resilience, environmental justice, and sustainable lifestyles.
8. Recognizing the interconnectedness of global climate challenges, we call for international cooperation and solidarity to address climate change, including financial support for developing countries to build resilience, adapt to climate impacts, and transition to sustainable development pathways.
9. Recognizing the important role of youths in climate activism and being one of the vulnerable community to climate impacts, we urge governments to involve young people in the policy making process with regards to climate change.
10. Realizing the roles of domestic and international courts in promoting climate justice, we urge states vulnerable to climate change and inter-governmental bodies to participate in the Advisory Opinion proceedings of the International Court of Justice and put the voices of marginalized communities including youths before the court.

In conclusion, we reaffirm our commitment to climate justice and collective action in building a more sustainable and equitable world for present and future generations. This manifesto serves as a rallying cry for governments, businesses, and citizens to unite in the fight against climate change and uphold the principles of justice, equity, and solidarity in all our endeavors.
